First Time Donor?

If this is your first time donating plasma, you will need to pass a medical history questionnaire and a physical exam. Please keep in mind that there are several reasons why a prospective donor may get deferred, or be ineligible to donate because they don't meet the donor requirements. Preparation Tips

Before donating your plasma, make sure to:

• Drink 4 to 6 eight-ounce glasses of water, fruit juice, or other caffeine-free beverage at least 2 to 3 hours before donating
• Don't drink alcohol 24 hours before you donate
• Avoid smoking for 2 to 3 hours before donating
• Avoid strenuous activity 1 hour before donating
• Eat a meal with high protein and iron within 2 hours of your donation
• Get a restful night of sleep
• Skip your donation if you're feeling sick
• Write down all the medications you're taking to make sure donating plasma is right for you
