Donor Requirements
Looking to donate plasma? Here’s everything you need to know to donate at Octapharma Plasma in St. Petersburg, Florida at 3365 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, FL 33713.
All qualified donors must meet these requirements:
- Ages 18-70
- Weighs over 110 pounds
- No Tattoos, piercings or permanent makeup within the last 4 months
- Valid ID
- Permanent address
- Must be in good health
First Time Donor?
If this is your first time donating plasma, you will need to pass a medical history questionnaire and a physical exam.
Please keep in mind that there are several reasons why a prospective donor may get deferred, or be ineligible to donate because they don’t meet the donor requirements.
A temporary deferral may be due to a recent tattoo or pregnancy, antibiotics, and more. A permanent deferral may be due to a chronic disease or long-term medical condition, such as Hepatitis or HIV.
How To Get Started
Walk-ins and online appointments are welcome for new and repeat plasma donors.

What To Bring
- Valid ID (i.e. Drivers license or military ID)
- Social security card or proof of social security number
- Proof of your current address or residency (Drivers license that lists your current address, mail from the last 60 days, current lease, utility bill, etc)
- New donor welcome bonus (if applicable)
- If you’re active in the military, you must provide the physical address where you receive mail
Preparation Tips
Before donating your plasma, make sure to:
- Drink 4 to 6 eight-ounce glasses of water, fruit juice, or other caffeine-free beverage at least 2 to 3 hours before donating
- Don’t drink alcohol 24 hours before you donate
- Avoid smoking for 2 to 3 hours before donating
- Avoid strenuous activity 1 hour before donating
- Eat a meal with high protein and iron within 2 hours of your donation
- Get a restful night of sleep
- Skip your donation if you’re feeling sick
- Write down all the medications you’re taking to make sure donating plasma is right for you
Other Things To Know
- Your first donation may take 2 to 2.5 hours due to the medical and physical screening
- Repeat visits will typically take 60 to 90 minutes
- Repeat donors can utilize OctaPass to save time by completing an online health questionnaire before each donation
